Wild Lapsang Souchong
This rare wild tea comes from the Wuyi Mountains in China, which has been famous for its teas since the time of the Tang Dynasty. The mountain was at one time a volcano, which has resulted in the soil in this area being extremely nutrient and mineral rich. The leaves for this tea come from tea trees that are more than 200 years old. The tea is harvested early in the morning using organic methods. It is dried using local pine tree branches, and thus has a unique pine and honey-like flavour.
The smokey flavour marries perfectly the sweetness and fruitiness of red date paste mooncakes, a vegetarian-friendly mooncake with crushed walnuts inside, originated from China's Shandong province.
